The project processes live 📷 IP camera streams and leverages YOLO (You Only Look Once) for vehicle detection, enabling real-time insights into traffic patterns on highways and roads. 🚗🛣️ 🔍 By leveraging Fog nodes , Traffic Sentinel focuses on intermediate, low-latency processing close to the data source. Apache Flink is used for stream processing, while Redis supports caching and lightweight session management. Communication between nodes is handled through the MQTT protocol , enabling a responsive and distributed monitoring flow. 🌐 The main objective of this project is learning and experimentation with IoT, edge/fog computing, and real-time stream processing concepts, transforming data streams into actionable insights in an educational context. I would like to express my gratitude to the IoT Traffic Surveillance System using Adaptive Video Encoding project for serving as an inspiration in the development of Traffic Sentinel . While no code was directly used, the fog-node architecture and real-time data processing concepts helped shape the idea for this solution.
