Human-directed. An iOS reader for EPUB, AZW3/MOBI (Kindle), PDF, TXT, and Markdown — built entirely by AI coding agents, with Swift 6, SwiftUI, and SwiftData. About VReader is a modern reading app designed for iPhone and iPad, built entirely by AI coding agents (Claude Code + Codex CLI) with human direction on requirements and testing. It supports EPUB, AZW3/MOBI (Kindle), PDF, TXT, and Markdown with annotations, full-text search, AI assistant, TTS, book source scraping, and WebDAV backup. Android port (in progress). Per ADR-0001, vreader is becoming two independently-shippable native apps — the iOS app (Swift, repo root) and a native Android app (Kotlin + Jetpack Compose, under android/ ) — that share identity / library / backup contracts ( contracts/ ), not a cross-platform rewrite. Foundation phases (#103 path-scoped automation, #104/#105 identity + reader spikes — verified, #107 dev-loop tooling) are done; the Android app (#106) has shipped its foundation-bar plumbing ( android/v0.1.0 – v0.1.4 ): the Compose app shell, the shared :identity module (conformance-proven against iOS), Room persistence, EPUB import (SAF → app-private storage → local-artifact fingerprint), and the resume bridge. Its user-visible surfaces (Library list #1744, EPUB reader host #1745) are design-gated under rule 51 and resume once their claude.ai/design bundles land.
