My old Kindle had no job. So I put them together. A personal experiment that gives an old Kindle a second life as a low-power, glanceable WHOOP health display. Kindle + WHOOP Morning refresh :---: :---: I wanted a simple way to glance at my WHOOP data without checking my phone. The result is an always-visible e-ink dashboard that wakes briefly to refresh, then leaves the latest image on screen without keeping the Kindle fully powered. What it shows The current daily dashboard includes: - Recovery score and plain-language recovery state; - Sleep Performance, duration, efficiency, and consistency; - Awake, Light, REM, and Deep sleep stages; - current Cycle Strain on WHOOP's 0–21 scale; - up to five available trend rows selected from HRV, derived Training Load, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, and skin temperature; - seven-day trends and locally calculated 28-day personal medians. Missing or still-processing measurements appear as labels or dashes rather than misleading zeros. Training Load is calculated by this project; it is not a field returned by the WHOOP API. Compatibility The only target currently verified on real hardware is: - Kindle Paperwhite 2 ; - firmware 5.10.3 ; - manual network refresh validated; - one complete unattended RTC wake, Wi-Fi refresh, and return-to-suspend cycle validated.
