Can also be used with InfluxDB, Prometheus and Grafana to monitor long-lived containers in real-time. The project is composed by 2 parts: 1) a lightweight agent (80KB native binary when built without Prometheus support; no JVM, Python or other interpreters needed) to collect actual CPU/memory/disk statistics (Linux-only) and store them in a JSON file or stream them to a time-series database (InfluxDB and Prometheus are supported); this is the so-called cmonitor-collector utility; 2) some simple Python tools to process the generated JSONs ; the most important one is \"cmonitor chart\" that turns the JSON into a self-contained HTML page using Google Charts to visualize all collected data. The collector utility is a cgroup-aware statistics collector; cgroups (i.e. Linux Control Groups) are the basic Linux technology used to create containers (you can read more on them here); this project thus aims at monitoring your LXC/Docker/Kubernetes POD container performances by monitoring only the cgroup-level kernel-provided stats. However, considering that systemd runs all software inside cgroups, cmonitor-collector can also be used to sample statistics about a software running outside any \"containerization\" technology (like LXC, Docker or Kubernetes).
