It prevents you from making common archiving mistakes that can put your data at risk. It currently supports these S3 providers: AWS, GCS, Wasabi, IDrive, Ceph, and Minio. Froster can efficiently crawl your Posix file system metadata, recommend folders for archiving, generate checksums, and upload your selections to Glacier or other S3-like storage. It can retrieve data back from the archive using a single command. Additionally, Froster can mount S3/Glacier storage inside your on-premise file system. Installation Froster is a single self-contained binary — no interpreter, package manager, or compiler is needed on the target machine. To install it, run: This detects your OS and CPU architecture, downloads the latest release, verifies its checksum, and installs it — to /.local/bin if that's already on your PATH , otherwise /bin (created if needed), or /usr/local/bin by default when run as root. On an HPC system, your home directory is all you need — no root, no packages.
