It probably suits a hobbyist with a good bit of time to spare, or a high school project, and particularly someone who already has Home Assistant and has heard about, and is curious about esp32's. It may not be the ideal \"first\" esp32 project but with the onboard led you have all the kit you need to search for and follow a beginners blink test esphome tutorial. I have tried to include things I learnt playing with this and other esp32 projects. The use of a battery, battery monitoring and sleeping the sensor are all applicable to other projects. The finished product and the home assistant dashboard: Features - It actually works, it will tell you if your soil is dry! - Battery powered for locating in the garden, with battery percent monitoring (not just voltage, using Max17048) - Quaterly charging cycles due to using deep sleep and powering off the sensor during sleep (via MOSFET) - Home Assistant integration - via esphome - notifications about what is going on via events - dynamic calculation of deep sleep cycles Hardware - esp32-c6 development board such as Seeed Studio esp32-c6 - 3.7v LiPo battery - Fuel Gauge such as Adafruit Max17048 Qwiic Fuel Gauge and Qwiic Cable if not included - Capacitive soil moisture sensor and connector lead - Headers for the esp32 and to connect the se","default_branch":null,"files":null,"tree":[],"storefront":"/r/bicycleboy","claimed":false,"request_supported":{"post":"https://gitbuyer.com/r/bicycleboy/yet-another-soil-moisture-sensor/request-supported","requests":0},"note":"indexed from public GitHub; nothing is for sale on this page.
