The purpose of the book is to record and organize these gems for later use in your life, in your business, in your writing, speaking or whatever it is that you do. (Ryan Holiday, How and Why to Keep a \"Commonplace Book\"). Dogeared Notes is an iOS and Mac app inspired by Commonplace Books -- places where to record thoughts and quotes about the things you read. You can use Dogeared to: Keep a list of books you want to read Record the library of books you have read Keep notes about what you have read Use review mode to cement books in your memory The Basics Dogeared is a pure client app. There's no service, no accounts, no passwords. You always own your data. Runs on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Creating notes works best with a keyboard, but reviewing your notes works great on a phone. Notes are plain text with Markdown formatting. All of your Dogeared notes are stored in a single file that you can synchronize across your devices with the system of your choice (e.g., iCloud or DropBox). iCloud Document Storage works great for keeping your notes in sync across multiple devices. Organize notes with hashtags. You can use hierarchical hashtags, too (e.g., #books/2021 ). Fast full-text search. Export library notes as Markdown files with YAML metadata. See Book Note Markdown for the proposed interchange forma","default_branch":null,"files":null,"tree":[],"storefront":"/r/bdewey","claimed":false,"request_supported":{"post":"https://gitbuyer.com/r/bdewey/LibraryNotes/request-supported","requests":0},"note":"indexed from public GitHub; nothing is for sale on this page.
