Gotchas - First bun run dev on a clean clone will fail with AssertionError: Build ID should be set if containers are defined and enabled . dev-preflight.mjs only writes the sanitized wrangler config when the source already exists, so the first getPlatformProxy() call in vite.config.ts has nothing to read. Fix: bun run dev:stop (or Ctrl-C), then bun run dev again — the sanitized file is in place now. - Docker is required, not optional. alchemy dev builds a Sandbox container, so the Docker daemon must be running. Adds 70s to first startup. - Shut down with bun run dev:stop . Plain Ctrl-C / kill leaves 4+ stale processes behind. Development First conversation 1. Sign in and land on the dashboard (a global inbox). 2. Create a workspace (optionally with an initial source URL). 3. Add model provider keys in Settings → Account (e.g. OpenRouter, OpenCode Zen) if you want live model calls. 4. Open the workspace and create a conversation with a harness, model, file scope, and tool permissions. 5. Send a task. Each conversation is always in one state: Ready , Running , Blocked , or Closed .
